Hello! I'm Cam Silver, Ph.D., a passionate scholar, political scientist, cultural critic, and advocate based in New York City. My interdisciplinary approach at the intersection of international relations and American government is fueled by a deep commitment to exploring and addressing some of the most pressing issues of our time.
Educational Journey and Expertise
My academic journey, culminating with a Ph.D. in Government and International Affairs from the University of South Florida, has equipped me with a rich understanding of political institutions, social movements, international organizations, popular culture, and activism. My research interests are broad and impactful, ranging from the nuances of genocide to the dynamics of LGBT politics.
Teaching and Mentoring
As a Doctoral Lecturer at John Jay College, CUNY, and having served in various prestigious institutions, including Barnard College, Columbia University, and the United States Military Academy at West Point, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. My courses are designed to challenge and inspire students, covering diverse subjects like American politics, international relations, LGBTQ rights, and more. My commitment to education extends beyond traditional academia, as evidenced by my contributions to various TRIO programs as a faculty mentor.
Research and Publications
My research work is marked by an in-depth examination of the U.S. response to global crises, such as those in Rwanda and Haiti. I have published critiques and articles in various platforms, dissecting everything from international politics to blockbuster films, showcasing my versatility as a scholar and a film enthusiast.
Skills and Contributions
I offer expertise in political analysis, foreign policy, diversity and inclusion, and human rights. My skills in elite interviewing and archival research have allowed me to uncover and present unique insights on complex global issues. I am an active member of several professional organizations, constantly expanding my knowledge and network to stay at the forefront of my field.
